Described as “a rip-roaring, unexpected, funny and utterly original escape” by novelist Angie Abdou and “part Oliver Twist, part Sisters Brothers” by novelist/memoirist Glenn Dixon, Prodigies is the story of three gifted young people tossed about by economic and social forces until they arrive in gold rush Deadwood, Dakota Territory, in 1877.

Bob Armstrong is a Winnipeg playwright, speechwriter, creative writing instructor, environmental impact report writer, writer of novels and short stories and occasional stand-up comic. Prodigies is the first of a projected series set in the wild west, a long-time interest of his. Bob’s comic novel Dadolescence was published by Turnstone Press and his plays have been performed at Theatre Projects Manitoba, Lunchbox Theatre, Parks Canada, New York University, Workshop West Theatre and the Winnipeg and Edmonton Fringe Festivals.

Host Sue Sorensen is a poet, novelist, and English professor at Canadian Mennonite University.
