Salle Antoine Gaborieau (2nd floor), Centre culturel franco-manitobain (CCFM), 340, boul. Provencher

THIN AIR 2013 begins with a celebration of the unfolding stories of the original peoples of our community.

This spring, Columpa Bobb and her Urban Indigenous Theatre Company first performed The Moving Gallery: Beyond Survival, a full-length, multi-generational, multi-disciplinary theatre work. The project uses, as its starting point, voices of residential school survivors, and reaches forward through eloquent advocates to arrive at the determination and resilience of aboriginal youth making fulfilling lives in our city.

Opening Night is proud to present an excerpt from that theatre event. Afterwards, Festival Director Charlene Diehl will have an on-stage conversation with its cast and co-creators: young members of the Urban Indigenous Theatre Company; Columpa Bobb, the company’s director; and Bobb’s mother, the eminent writer, Lee Maracle.

Tickets are $5, available at the door.
