Harriet Zaidman

Harriet Zaidman worked as a teacher-librarian for 25 years. She has published two picture books and writes reviews for The Winnipeg Free Press and CM: Canadian Review of Materials. Her middle years
novel City on Strike (Red Deer Press) tells the story of a 13-year-old boy and his younger sister, part of a poor immigrant family in Winnipeg’s North End, who get drawn into the chaos of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike, a key moment in Canadian history when demands of workers and returning soldiers all played out in the bloody streets of the city. Zaidman lives in Winnipeg, and hosts the cooking blog called North End Nosh.
