Jodi Carmichael

Award-winning Canadian author, Jodi Carmichael is a champion for the underdog and kids who think differently. Being neurodivergent, ADHD fuels every thought she thinks and word she writes. Through her writing, she hopes to not only foster a love of reading in children and teens, but to help grow their empathy for others. She is the author of The U-unique Lou Fox, Family of Spies: Paris, Forever Julia, and Spaghetti is NOT a Finger Food. Jodi was honored to receive the 2021 ILA Celebrating Literacy Award for her work with Manitoba youth. She was thrilled that The U-nique Lou Fox was chosen for the International Youth Library’s prestigious 2024 White Raven Selection and was included in the 2024 Manitoba Young Readers Choice Award and the 2023/24 Young Readers’ Choice Awards of British Columbia. Jodi visits classrooms, libraries, or entire school assemblies to talk about reading, writing, and editing, hoping to inspire students to explore their own creativity. When not channeling characters from her books, she can be found strolling Manitoba beaches with her family.
