Welcome to Speaking Crow the Virtual Edition! Just as before, we will be meeting the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm, this time via ZOOM.

This month, our featured reader J.R. Léveillé will perform poems in both English and French from his collaboration with late Alberta poet E.D. Blodgett, Ex Nihilo, published by At Bay Press.

We have two registration options:

1)Register to be part of an enthusiastic Speaking Crow audience, and receive a ZOOM link to attend.

2)Register to be one of the open mic readers, and receive a ZOOM link to attend. Limit 25, first-come-first-served.

Registration for both options will remain open until 7:15pm (only register for one or the other, not both).

Speaking Crow is funded and facilitated by the Winnipeg International Writers Festival (WIWF) which is committed to creating safe and respectful opportunities for writers, volunteers, audience members, and workers to share knowledge, explore ideas, and build community.

Featured Guest

J. Roger Léveillé is the author of over 30 publications (novels, poetry, essays, hybrid genres) that have garnered various awards, among them the Manitoba Arts Award of Distinction. He was a longtime literary editor at Éditions du Blé, and secretary of the Winnipeg International Writers Festival. His work was the object of an international symposium in 2005 and he was guest writer and lecturer at the Université de Rennes in 2009. His latest novel, Ganiishomong, was published by Éditions du Blé, and his new poetry book, Ex Nihilo with E.D. Blodgett, by At Bay Press.

Originaire de Winnipeg, J. Roger Léveillé est l’auteur d’une trentaine d’œuvres, en tous genres, récompensées par divers prix littéraires dont le Prix de distinction en arts de la province du Manitoba. Il a été directeur littéraire aux Éditions du Blé et secrétaire du Winnipeg International Writers Festival pendant de nombreuses années. Un colloque international sur son œuvre a eu lieu en 2005 et il a été écrivain et professeur en résidence à l’Université de Rennes II en 2009. Son dernier roman Ganiishomong est publié aux Éditions du Blé, et sa poésie Ex Nihilo chez At Bay Press.
