Méira Cook

Méira Cook was born in Johannesburg and worked as a journalist in South Africa before coming to Canada in the early 1990s. She holds a PhD in Canadian literature from the University of Manitoba. She has published four poetry collections, and has won the CBC Literary Award for poetry and the Walrus Prize for poetry. Her first novel, The House on Sugarbush Road, won the McNally Robinson Manitoba Book of the Year Award. Her latest novel, Once More with Feeling (Anansi), is a poignant yet humourous story of marriage, loss, and transformation in a prairie city that resembles Méira Cook’s home city of Winnipeg.
