J.R. McConvey

J.R. McConvey’s debut short story collection, Different Beasts, won the 2020 Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for speculative fiction. His stories have been shortlisted for the Journey Prize, the Bristol Short Story Prize and the Thomas Morton Prize, and he won the 2016 Jack Hodgins Founders’ Award for fiction. In 2018, he made the CBC Poetry Prize long list. He sometimes works as a journalist and media producer, and exists in would-be reality with his family in the southwest corner of Toronto. 

J.R. McConvey’s stories have been shortlisted for the Journey Prize, the Bristol Short Story Prize, and the Matrix Lit Pop award. His work has appeared in the Malahat Review, Joyland, EVENT, the Puritan, the New Quarterly, carte blanche, filling Station, and the Feathertale Review. He is the winner of the 2016 Jack Hodgins Founders’ Award for Fiction.
