Gregory Younging, a member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation in northern Manitoba, was the Assistant Director of Research for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and teaches Indigenous Studies at UBC’s Okanagan campus. His research interests focus on Indigenous rights and protocols, as well as traditional knowledge and governance. Greg has a long history in Indigenous publishing, working first as the managing editor of Theytus Books, Canada’s oldest Indigenous publishing house, and more recently taking over as publisher. His new book, Elements of Indigenous Style: A Guide for Writing By and About Indigenous Peoples, began as an in-house style guide at Theytus, and is quickly becoming an essential handbook for writers and editors across the country.
