Canisia Lubrin
Writers
Canisia Lubrin is a writer, editor, critic and teacher whose international publications include translations into Spanish, Italian, French and German. Lubrin’s writing has appeared and is forthcoming in Room Magazine, Brick, Joyland, Poetry London, Poets.org, and elsewhere. Lubrin’s been recognized by, among others, the Toronto Book Award, Journey Prize, Gerald Lampert, and Pat Lowther, Writers Trust Rising Star prize. Her debut, Voodoo Hypothesis, was named a CBC Best Book for which CBC named Lubrin to multiple writers to watch lists. Her sophomore book is The Dyzgraphxst (M&S, 2020), as seen in, among others, The New York Times, Quill & Quire, Jewish Currents, Toronto Star and Humber Literary Review. NOW Magazine featured Lubrin in their 2020 Black Futures issue. She was 2019 Writer-In-Residence at Queen’s University and poetry faculty for the Banff Centre’s Emerging Writers Intensive.
