Brett D. Huson (Hetxw’ms Gyetxw) is from the Gitxsan Nation, located in the northwest interior of British Columbia. Growing up in a strong matrilineal society, he experienced and learned about the culture, land and political landscape he was born into. From this came a passion to create and share the knowledge and stories of his people, which reflect the importance of environmental balance and a cultural knowledge that spans thousands of years. The Sockeye Mother (HighWater) follows the sockeye salmon through its lifecycle showing that it is not only a food source, but also an integral part of the interconnectedness of all species. Huson lives in Winnipeg.
