Patrick Friesen

Patrick Friesen has published poetry, written stage and radio plays, and collaborated with choreographers, dancers, musicians, and composers. His book Blasphemer’s Wheel was awarded McNally Robinson Manitoba Book of the Year, A Broken Bowl was a finalist for the Governor-General’s Award, and jumping in the asylum won the ReLit Award for Poetry. His latest book, a short history of crazy bone (MotherTongue), is a long poem about a wild woman/fool/trickster, living on the outskirts of town and on the edge of the world. Friesen, a resident of Winnipeg for thirty years and Vancouver for a dozen more, now lives in Victoria, BC.
