Oakland Ross

Oakland Ross has served as The Globe and Mail correspondent in sub-Saharan Africa, based in Harare, Zimbabwe, and as the Middle East correspondent for the Toronto Star, based in Jerusalem. He has won several Canadian journalism and literary prizes, including two National Newspaper Awards, a National Magazine Award for fiction, and the Roland Michener Award for Meritorious Public Service in Journalism, and has published several books of fiction and non-fiction. His latest novel, Swimming with Horses (Dundurn), is a coming-of- story set partly in southern Ontario horse country and partly in apartheid-era South Africa. Ross lives in Toronto.
