Douglas Burnet Smith
Douglas Burnet Smith has published over a dozen books of poetry, and his work has been translated into French, Spanish, Bosnian, German, and Finnish. He has won several prizes, including The Malahat Review’s Long Poem Prize, and been nominated for many others, including the Governor General’s Award for Voices from a Farther Room and the Atlantic Poetry Prize for The Killed. His new collection, Sister Prometheus: Discovering Marie Curie (Wolsak & Wynn), constructs a fascinating portrait of a scientific genius, mother, wife, and lover. Douglas Burnet Smith divides his time between Paris, France, and Antigonish NS where he teaches at St. Francis Xavier University.
