Stephen Henighan

Stephen Henighan was born in Germany. By the age of nine, he had lived in seven houses in four countries, but the remainder of his upbringing took place on a farm in Eastern Ontario. He holds a D.Phil. in Spanish American literature from the University of Oxford and has published novels, short stories, and essays, as well as translations into English from Portuguese and Romanian. The stories in his latest collection, Blue River and Red Earth (Cormorant), travel from the Russian Arctic and the Guatemala highlands, to Toronto’s Caribbean neighbourhoods and South Africa’s Indian Ocean beaches. He is a professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies at the University of Guelph.
