ABOUT:

What can words do? Two award-winning playwrights and performers take the stage at the Rachel Browne Theatre on Saturday, December 7, 7:30pm. Cliff Cardinal, playwright, actor, and musician, stunned Winnipeg crowds a few years back with his one-person play Huff, and charmed us with songs and passages from a new novel at THIN AIR 2018. Joining him is Waawaate Fobister, Anishinaabe playwright, actor, and dancer from Grassy Narrows First Nation, now living in Winnipeg, who won two Dora Awards for his play Agokwe.

Together, these two longtime friends will share dramatic monologues, poems, songs, drag. (Mature content.)

Voices in the Circle: Celebrating Indigenous Writing in Canada is one of 200 extraordinary projects in Canada funded by the Canada Council’s New Chapter fund. Over the past two years, we have brought over three dozen brilliant First Nations, Métis, and Inuit writers to stages, classrooms, and bookstores, and provided hands-on mentoring to young writers in communities throughout Manitoba and into Nunavut.

TICKETS:

Event is free, but registration is encouraged; register HERE. Wheelchair accessible.
