CBC Radio unveils Canada Reads 2009

CBC Radio One has just unveiled Canada Reads 2009. In a week-long debate in February, five celebrity panellists will champion five great Canadian books, and one book will emerge as the book for all Canadians to read. The five-book list will inspire even the most time-strapped reader:

Gil Adamson, The Outlander
Brian Francis, Fruit
Lawrence Hill, The Book of Negroes
David Adams Richard, Mercy Among the Children
Michel Tremblay, The Fat Woman Next Door is Pregnant

Three of these books were launched on THIN AIR stages. Gil Adamson’s cheeky up-dated western and Lawrence Hill’s sweeping epic of black slavery were big hits on our 2007 roster, and Brian Francis’s awkward teenager stole our hearts in 2004.
