Irene Gammel holds a Canada Research Chair in Modern Literature and Culture at Ryerson University, and is the author and editor of eight books, including scholarly studies of Lucy Maud Montgomery. Her new book, Looking for Anne: How Lucy Maud Montgomery Dreamed Up a Literary Classic (Key Porter), coincides with the centenary of Anne of Green Gables, and is accompanied by an exhibit curated by Gammel which is at the University of Winnipeg during THIN AIR 2008. The book blends biography with cultural history, and has been marked as the definitive book on the Canadian classic. Gammel lives in Toronto.
