Wab Kinew

Wab Kinew spent his early years on the Onigaming First Nation in Northern Ontario and attended an Anishinaabe immersion preschool before moving with his family to Winnipeg. He is recognized for his radio and television journalism, particularly the 8th Fire series on CBC, and more recently for his leadership of Manitoba’s NDP party. Kinew’s 2015 memoir, The Reason You Walk was a national bestseller and finalist for the RBC Taylor Prize. His new book is Go Show the World: A Celebration of Indigenous Heroes (Tundra), a picture book showcasing memorable Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, both the well-known and the not-so-widely recognized. Kinew lives in Winnipeg.
