Chelene Knight

Chelene Knight is a workshop facilitator for teens, literary event organizer, and host. She has been published in various Canadian and American literary magazines, and her work is widely anthologized. She is currently the managing editor at Room magazine, and the 2018 Programming Director for the Growing Room Festival. Her book, Dear Current Occupant (Book*hug), is a genre-bending memoir of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, blending stream-of-consciousness entries with poetry, short stories, messages to loved ones and strangers, and photographs by Vancouver designer Jade Melnychuk. The Toronto Star described it as “lush, lyrical, mesmerizing” writing by “one of the storytellers we need most right now.” Knight lives in Vancouver.
