Bill Sanderson

The English-Michif translator of children’s books for Pemmican Publications, Canada’s only dedicated Métis publishing house, Bill learned his languages from his parents, who spoke five of them – Ojibwa, Michif, French, English and Cree. As the former President of the Thunder Eagle Society, through community direction, he was behind the formation of the city’s first Indigenous high school in 1991. He has taught at all major education institutions throughout Manitoba. Earlier on in his life, he acknowledged that his connection to his Ojibwa culture was what provided him with strength throughout his career.
