David Alexander Robertson, of Irish, Scottish, English, and Cree heritage, is an award-winning writer and advocate for educating youth about Indigenous history and contemporary issues. He won the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer in 2015. He has created several bestselling graphic novels, including the 7 Generations series, the Tales From Big Spirit series, and Betty: The Helen Betty Osborne Story. His first children’s book, When We Were Alone, won the McNally Robinson Best Book for Young People award in 2017. His latest graphic novel, Will I See? (Highwater), created in collaboration with Iskwé and GMB Chomichuk, explores the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. He lives in Winnipeg.
