Sharanpal Ruprai

Sharanpal Ruprai earned a PhD in Humanities from York University, a Masters in English from the University of Calgary, and undergraduate degrees in Education and Arts from the University of Winnipeg. She created and produced (Narrow Field of Vision): Experimental Film Narrative, which was showcased at the Spinning Wheel Film Festival, held at the Royal Ontario Museum. Her debut poetry collection, Seva (Frontenac House), opens the doors to culture, gender, and ritual in the life of a Sikh girl; it was a finalist this spring for the Stephen G. Stephansson Award for Poetry. Ruprai has just returned to Winnipeg to teach Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Winnipeg.
