Catherine Macdonald

Catherine Macdonald has an M.A. in western Canadian history from the University of Manitoba and worked as an archivist before opening her own consulting business. Her history of Winnipeg parks, A City at Leisure: An Illustrated History of Parks and Recreation Services 1893-1993, won a Margaret McWilliams medal. Her debut novel, Put on the Armour of Light (Dundurn), is a murder mystery set in Winnipeg in 1899. Rich in local history and geography, it introduces readers to an unlikely amateur detective, Reverend Charles Lauchlan, an industrious young Presbyterian minister. Macdonald lives in Winnipeg.
