Doretta Lau

Doretta Lau is an arts and culture journalist for Artforum International, South China Morning Post, The Wall Street Journal Asia, and LEAP. She completed an MFA in Writing at Columbia University. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in many journals, including Grain, Prairie Fire, and PRISM International, and she was a finalist for the 2013 Journey Prize. Her debut collection of stories, How Does a Single Blade of Grass Thank the Sun? (Nightwood Editions), is an imaginative and engaged look at the personal and political histories of self-aware young Asian Canadians. She splits her time between Vancouver and Hong Kong, where she is at work on a novel and a screenplay.
