In her introduction to her anthology Against Forgetting, Carolyn Forché writes that a poem of witness is both an event and the trace of an event.
In this workshop we will explore examples of poetry as witness and examine what elements give these poems their power and humanity. Poetry is an act of art, empathy, and transformation. Using prompts such as news headlines and personal life situations workshop participants will write poems that witness and respond to the world around them with heart and conviction.
Tickets for this workshop are under a “Pay What You Can” model – with the recommended price of $30.
*Please note, seats are limited with a max of 30 registrants.
