The Truth about Bodies in Motion: a workshop with Tanis MacDonald

Community Classroom, McNally Robinson - Grant Park, 1120 Grant Avenue

About this event

In this workshop, we will work with the pleasures and the problems of being a body in motion, and shift towards regarding writing about our bodies in all their beauties and oddities as nature writing. Conventional ideas of the natural world as idyllic come up against a wide range of bodily experience that is part of a larger understanding of where we fit (or chafe against) these conventions. What is the beauty of a hawk in flight seen through the lens of a panic attack? How does foot pain change the act of urban foraging? Bring your breathing, grousing, observant bodies and we’ll write about and through them. For writers of all genres, with a special emphasis on creative nonfiction.

UPDATE: The meeting will now take place in the McNally Robinson Community Classroom, 4000-1120 Grant Ave, Winnipeg.

Tickets for this workshop are under a “Pay What You Can” model – with the recommended price of $30.
