Speaking Crow September Edition with Katherine Bitney

Welcome to Speaking Crow the Virtual Edition! Just as before, we will be meeting the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm, this time via ZOOM.

We have two registration options:

1)Register to be part of an enthusiastic Speaking Crow audience, and receive the ZOOM link to attend.

2)Register to be one of the open mic readers, and receive the ZOOM link to attend. Limit 25, first-come-first-served.

Registration for both options will remain open until 7:05 pm. Note the new deadline. We will start at 7:00 sharp! (Please only register for one ticket per person: the audience and open mic links are identical.)

Born in England, Katherine Bitney grew up in Saskatchewan and has spent most of her life on the Canadian prairies. A founding member of the Manitoba Writers’ Guild and Prairie Fire Magazine, Katherine is author of four books of poetry, including Firewalk (Turnstone, 2012), and of a collection of essays, The Boreal Dragon: Encounters with a Northern Land (Wolsak and Wynn, 2013). She has collaborated as librettist on a choral piece, Cantus Borealis, with composer Sid Robinovitch, premiered by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra in April 2011. She has worked as editor, mentor, creative writing instructor, and arts juror for over 35 years in Manitoba, and holds an MA in Religion from the University of Manitoba. Katherine Bitney lives, gardens, and writes in Winnipeg. A fifth collection of poetry is under construction.

Speaking Crow is funded and facilitated by the Winnipeg International Writers Festival (WIWF) which is committed to creating safe and respectful opportunities for writers, volunteers, audience members, and workers to share knowledge, explore ideas, and build community.
