Winnipeg’s longest running poetry open mic moves online for an event featuring Kimmy Zee!

About this event

Welcome to Speaking Crow the Virtual Edition! Just as before, we will be meeting the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm, this time via ZOOM.

We have two registration options:

1)Register to be part of an enthusiastic Speaking Crow audience, and receive the ZOOM link to attend.

2)Register to be one of the open mic readers, and receive the ZOOM link to attend. Limit 25, first-come-first-served.

Registration for both options will remain open until 7:05 pm. Note the new deadline. We will start at 7:00 sharp! (Please only register for one ticket per person: the audience and open mic links are identical.)

Featured Guest:

Kim Zeglinski (she/her) aka Kimmy Zee when she performs, is a wife, mom, spoken word artist, actor, elementary school counsellor, and an elementary school teacher with over 20 years experience. She has performed at numerous Fringe Festivals since 1991, in Winnipeg and elsewhere, most recently as a competitor in The Winnipeg Fringe Slam (2017 & 2018), and with her autobiographical solo show MIDDLEhood aka Mittelschmerz (2014 & 2018). In 2021 she performed at the virtual World Poetry Day event #HavePoemsWillTravel. She has presented her personal perspectives as an Autistic woman, parent, educator, and advocate on the Family 360 podcast, at TEDx Winnipeg, nationally on CBC Radio, at MoMondays Live, and at several conferences. Kim lives in Winnipeg with her husband, her two adult sons, and several not-dead-yet plants.

Speaking Crow is a space that values diversity, creativity, and encouragement. Whether you do spoken word or page poetry, whether you’ve published widely or just started writing, we can’t wait to hear your poems.
