Featured Guest

Brigette (she/her) is a writer and changemaker based in Winnipeg, Treaty 1 Territory. When she was 11, she received a marvellous gift – a journal from her sister. Ever since, creative writing has helped her to understand the world and be the author of her story. She has written plays for festivals across Canada and studied Creative Writing at The University of Ottawa. Her first book of poetry, sun compass, will be published in April 2022 by At Bay Press. As a nonprofit manager, Brigette works at the nexus of inclusion and climate solutions. She received the Young Impact Leader award from Future of Good. During the pandemic, she completed her Master’s in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton. She is currently working on a new creative writing project. Further details coming soon!

Polish up your new poems for your 3 minutes of fame at the open mic!

Speaking Crow is a space that values diversity, creativity, and encouragement. Whether you do spoken word or page poetry, whether you’ve published widely or just started writing, we can’t wait to hear your poems.

*Please note, only the featured reader will be recorded.

*For everyone’s safety, attendees will remain muted until their turn to read and anyone engaged in disruptive or disrespectful behaviour will be removed immediately.
