Speaking Crow is back and going virtual! Septembert guest poet? Di Brandt!

Welcome to Speaking Crow the Virtual Edition! Just as before, we will be meeting the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm Central Time, this time via ZOOM.

We have two registration options:

1)Register to be part of an enthusiastic Speaking Crow audience, and receive a ZOOM link to attend.

2)Register to be one of the open mic readers, and receive a ZOOM link to attend. Limit 25, first-come-first-served.

Registration for both options will remain open until 7:15pm.

Speaking Crow is funded and facilitated by the Winnipeg International Writers Festival (WIWF) which is committed to creating safe and respectful opportunities for writers, volunteers, audience members, and workers to share knowledge, explore ideas, and build community.

Featured Guest:

Di Brandt is an internationally renowned poet, author, editor, translator, essayist, literary critic, teacher, and creative arts events organizer. Her numerous acclaimed and award-winning poetry collections include questions i asked my mother; Agnes in the Sky; Now You Care; Walking to Mojácar, with French and Spanish translations by Charles Leblanc and Ari Belathar; and Glitter & fall: Laozi’s Dao De Jing, Transinhalations. She has fond memories of her term as Winnipeg Public Library writer-in-residence a few years ago. She recently served as Winnipeg’s inaugural poet laureate. Some of the poems she wrote during that appointment appeared in Prairie Fire magazine, and one of them, “River People,” was chosen for Best Canadian Poetry and received the GOLD National Magazine Award for Poetry.
