[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Decolonizing, the patient and disciplined excavating of ideas and ideals that advantage some and disadvantage others, is a massive undertaking. This afternoon, three writers share their approaches to unsettling our stories: an Angolan living in Brazil explores the lost culture of his home city; an American-Canadian living in Boston flips the script on Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, exposing an ugly tangle of whiteness, exceptionalism, and humanitarianism; and a Cree poet from northern Alberta bears witness to the violence at the heart of Indigenous experience in a country of settlers.
