[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The British Council brings us Outriders, a conversation between Katherena Vermette, a Métis writer with Scottish heritage, and Harry Giles, a writer from Orkney with an interest in the Scottish diaspora. They have traveled together in Canada and in Scotland, and will share the results of their research and conversation.

The British Council brings us Outriders, created by Edinburgh International Book Festival and supported by the Scottish government Expo fund a conversation between Katherena Vermette, a Métis writer with Scottish heritage, and Harry Giles, a writer from Orkney with an interest in the Scottish diaspora. The two writers travelled from Montreal, through Winnipeg, to Churchill, looking at the complexities of regional and minority languages, as well as the connections to the Orkney culture that remains present in that region. Following their presentation at Edinburgh International Book Festival in August 2017, Katherena and Harry return to Winnipeg to share the nature of their collaboration and research on intercultural history of Scottish and Metis people.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3887″ onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://www.edbookfest.co.uk/”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3888″ onclick=”custom_link” link=”http://www.gov.scot/Topics/ArtsCultureSport/arts/Key-projects/EdinburghFestivalsExpoFund”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3889″ onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://www.britishcouncil.ca/”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
