A spoken word open mic featuring Winnipeg’s rising stars.

Poetry slams are a rising form of DIY entertainment among young spoken word enthusiasts across the continent. The rules are simple: a three-minute time limit, and all words—no props or musical accompaniment.

Voices Ink is Winnipeg’s youth slam central, and they’re kicking off their new season with an open mic session. No competition, so even first-timers can take a run at it. If you’re one of the city’s young spoken word artists (22 and under qualifies you), step up to the mic and share your three minutes of blistering brilliance or mellifluous musing. You’ll be in the capable hands of Amber Leenders, the leader of Voices Ink.

If you don’t fit into that age group, come and be part of the audience—that role is crucial too!

Food and drink for purchase on-site.
