Voices Ink Youth Poetry Slam

Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm Archived

Sam's Place, 159 Henderson Highway

Poetry slams are a rising form of DIY entertainment among young spoken word enthusiasts across the continent, and we have some terrific talent here in Winnipeg. The rules are simple: a three-minute time limit, and words only—no props or musical accompaniment. Voices Ink is Winnipeg’s youth slam central, and this afternoon kicks off their new season. If you’re one of the city’s young slammers (22 and under qualifies you), step up to the mic and share your three minutes of blistering brilliance or mellifluous musing. It’s non-competitive, and you’ll be in the capable hands of Chimwemwe Undi, a terrific performer and passionate spoken word advocate.

If you don’t fit into that age group, come and be part of the audience—that role is crucial too!

Food and drink for purchase on-site.
