We’re thrilled about the chance to roll out the red carpet for three winners of the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry: Katherena Vermette, Lorna Crozier, and Patrick Lane!

The evening will feature readings by all three poets, and an on-stage conversation with Festival Director Charlene Diehl. Everyone is invited to stay for a reception and book-signing in the lobby immediately following. Tickets are only $10, and will be available at McNally Robinson Booksellers, and through the Festival office (204-927-7323).KATHERENA VERMETTE catapulted poetry onto the front page of the Winnipeg Free Press when she won the 2013 GGLA for her book, North End Love Songs. LORNA CROZIER, a Saskatchewan transplant to the west coast and a perennial favourite amongst Winnipeg audiences, won the 1992 GGLA for Inventing the Hawk. PATRICK LANE, who worked in BC’s logging industry before turning to writing, won the 1978 GGLA for Poems, Selected and New. The work of all three shines with intelligence, heart, sensitivity, and wonder.

This event is organized in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts to mark the 2013 edition of the Governor General’s Literary Awards.
