FOREWORDS: ALSO THE WRITERS FESTIVAL!

Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm Archived

Free Press News Cafe, 237 McDermot Avenue

Corey Redekop will read from his sharply funny novel Husk, in which a newly-minted zombie attempts to balance family, career—and cannibalism.

Also on the evening’s roster: the poetry slam finalists who will represent Winnipeg at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Saskatoon this fall. After competing throughout the season against some of the city’s best Spoken Word performers, Steve Currie, Aaron Simm, J-La, Faiza, and Dylan Mowatt came out on top. They’ll show their stuff on the stage tonight.

We’ll wrap the evening with a Haiku Death Match. Witty, thoughtful, profane—what’ll it be? The audience votes for their favorites and decides who will be the Haiku Master! Don’t be afraid to cheer or groan. And watch your back: there might be zombies out and about!

Tickets are $5, available at the door or in advance from September 4 – 20; call (204) 927-7323 or visit www.thinairwinnipeg.ca/ticket-information.
