Spirit of the wolf: Raise your voice

Duncan Mercredi’s poetry is a celebration of life, rich with his people’s strong sense of attachment to the land. Mercredi’s poems show the despair and loss of hope with a sensitivity that comes from personal experience and a deep concern for his people who have become lost in the tangle of poverty, hopelessness and hatred. He shows that there is a way towards reconnection and rejuvenation: the land is still there and still offers wisdom and fulfillment. And there are people who are willing to help — people who have retained the circle of life and understanding of the land and its messages. It is these people also who are not afraid to speak out and who are willing to sacrifice themselves for a better world.
